Nicole Watson, PhD. of Michigan State University: Return of the Grayling. Arctic Grayling were once the dominant stream salmonid in the northern lower peninsula of Michigan. My research focused on considerations for the reintroduction of Grayling to Michigan with a focus on their early life interactions with Brook and Brown Trout. Nicole graduated from Michigan State University in early 2024 with a doctoral degree in Fisheries Ecology and Management with a dual degree in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior. My research focused on Arctic Grayling early life history, water choice, and competition and predation with Brook and Brown Trout. I lived and worked as a Fish Biologist and Analyst for two years in Alaska. I moved to Ashland this past summer to join USGS as a Fishery Biologist on Lake Superior.
