The City of Ashland maintains two campgrounds that operate on a first-come, first-serve basis.  City of Ashland park facilities and campgrounds usually open for the season around May 15 and close around October 15. Firewood, to be used at the City of Ashland campgrounds, must be purchased in Ashland or within a 25-mile radius of the City of Ashland.

Kreher Park, located on Lake Superior, at the end of North Prentice Avenue, is home to a 33 site RV campground, with a playground, swim beach, boat launch, pavilion, bathrooms, showers, water and electric hook-ups, a dump station and access to the Ashland Rails to Trails System.  Can accomidate 40 ft campers – a few spots can handle a little larger.

Prentice Park is large wooded park that provides RV and tent camping opportunities with 6 RV sites with electric (50 amp and water and 6 tent/small camper sites.  Prentice Park has bathrooms, showers, artesian wells, playground, pavilions, 2 miles of hiking trails and access to the Ashland Rails to Trails System, Fish Creek Sloughs and wildlife viewing opportunities. Paid RV campers can use the dump station at Kreher Park for no additional cost. Maximum stay on any tent site is two weeks.  Can accomidate 40 ft campers.

The City of Ashland Parks and Recreation Department accepts reservations for only month-long camping at Kreher and Prentice Park. Please call at 715/682-7059 or visit www.coawi.org for more information.

Kreher Park Fees

  • Kreher – non lake front sites $40/night – $240/wk – $950/month
  • Kreher – Lakefront sites (#25-33) $45/night – $270/wk  – Sites (#26, 27, 31, 32 only) $1,100/month
  • Kreher – (Sites 15,18,19,20,23 have a 14 day limit so no month long stays on those sites)

Prentice Park  Fees:

  • RV $40/night – $210/wk – $950/month
  • Park Tent $25/night – $125/wk – No monthly stays
