CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS

  A Dickens of a Christmas! – White Winter Mead, Cider, Spirits. 6pm. $90 before Oct 31st. $95 November 1st and after. Proceeds to Benefit Iron River Library.   104th Annual Community Christmas Concert, at 4pm at the Presbyterian Congregational Church, 214 Vaughn Ave, Ashland. Featuring music to usher in the Advent season by area churches, community choirs and area high school and college musicians. Free and open to the public.

  Handel’s “Messiah” – Ashland Chamber Music Society. 7pm. Free Admission. Christmas tradition featuring an orchestra, soloists, and audience participation. Choral books are provied at the door.  Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 201 Lake Shore Dr E.

  Christmas Tree Lighting in Pearson Plaza at 6pm following the Ashland Chamber of Commerce Parade. Hot cocoa & cookies, ornament decorating, a classic performance by Golden Era Jazz and visit with Santa.  Questions call 715-682-7071.

  Our Lady of the Lake Annual Holiday Bazaar. 8am-1pm. There will be beautiful Gift Baskets, Winebreads and Bakery, Handmade Quilts, Crafts, Raffles and Café Snack Bar. Raffle Tickets available at Our Lady of the Lake Pastoral Center Office and on the day of the Bazaar.

  Winter Solstice and Decemberist’s Birthday Party – White Winter Mead, Cider, Spirits. 5-9pm. Come one, come all who have a birthday in December, know someone who has a birthday in December or just want a night out that doesn’t have to do with Christmas! Meadmaker Jon and Moss Creek will be playing tunes and are welcoming any other musicians to join the jam. This night is for celebrating the Winter Solstice and for all who have felt neglected during this season of Joy. No longer will your birthday celebration be overlooked or combined with Christmas. We won’t let the jolly man in red or the big man upstairs have all the fun, the closer your birthday is to December 25 (before or after) the greater your drink discount! Birthday in the: First week of December = $2.00 off drinks, Second week of December = $3.00 off drinks, Third week of December = $4.00 off drinks.   Community Science: Christmas Bird Count – Cable Natural History Museum. All day at the Cable and Hayward areas. For more than 120 years, volunteers across the Western Hemisphere have spent one winter day counting every bird they see or hear to help track population trends and guide conservation efforts. This annual event, known as the Christmas Bird Count (CBC), is open to everyone. Each count is organized inside an established 15-mile diameter circle by a local compiler who will guide you through the process. Live inside a circle? You can even report birds from your feeder! Free to participate! All skill levels welcome! A fun way to contribute to real community science! • Salvation Army Bell Ringing.  Salvation Army Bell Ringing will begin November 20 and run through December 24th at Ashland Super One.  Ashland Wal-Mart  location will begin Saturday November 25 – December 22.   If you are interested in ringing at Ashland Super One call 715-292-7656 or Wal-Mart call 715-209-1127.

• The Ashland Foundation, Inc is once again running the Secret Santa program. Money donated will be given out to people in the community to help give them “a hand up” during the Christmas season.  Donations may be made inside the Northern State Bank with a teller.
