Part of Mural in Pool Area

Quality Inn of Ashland, U.S. Hwy. 2 West
September 2006

Stop in at the Quality Inn of Ashland located on U.S. Highway 2 west of Ashland to see the extensive interior murals representing the history of the voyageur era. There are three separate murals: one in the lobby, one in the café, and one in the pool area. These murals were painted in the studio.

The Quality Inn of Ashland is at the head of Chequamegon Bay, and is thus close to the location of an original Ojibwa village. The murals depict the Ojibwa tribe, fur trappers, and Jesuit priests.

They were completed in September of 2006 and were commissioned by Hank Martinsen during the renovation of the motel.
